Review | Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner

Rarely is there a day when winged eyeliner doesn't grace my peepers. After my usual Collection felt liner ran out, I decided I'd try something new and went for Maybelline's Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner. Don't be fooled by the name, ladies, this is a felt liner.

Retailing for £5.99, I picked this eyeliner up in Superdrug. The thing that made me go for this liner was the uniquely shaped tip. Longer than most eyeliners I've tried, but really easy to apply as the fine tip makes, as the name suggests, application precise. Super black too, I was sure I was going to love it.

However good this eyeliner looks when first applied, this is unfortunately short lived. I have never had a problem with eyeliner smudging, but a few hours after applying this I get a major case of panda eyes. I've tried everything, ladies: setting underneath with face powder, setting over the top with black eyeshadow, even going over it in another eyeliner. Why this is is a complete mystery, I don't have oily lids and usually get pretty good lasting power out of most eye makeup. The only time I can see me using this now, unfortunately, is when I only need makeup on for an hour or two and, let's face it, how often does that happen? Such a shame, as I thought this was going to be a winner.

What's your favourite felt eyeliner? Have you tried this one?

Favourite 5 | Lip Products

If there's one thing from the world of beauty I collect more than any other it's lip products. Today I've narrowed down my collection to 5 favourites and, in no particular order, they are...

#1 - MUA Lipstick in Bare (£1.00)
I was on the hunt for a nude lipstick for the longest time, one that wouldn't make me look like I had foundation mouth or like I were from the grave. Finally I found it, in the form of MUA's lipstick in Bare. Ladies, if you haven't tried an MUA lippy yet, what have you been doing? They're super pigmented and cost £1, what's not to love?

#2 - NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot (£6.00)
Matte lipsticks are my favourite kind and red lips are my go to for a night out. The colour of Merlot is my exact favourite kind of red, deeper than a pillar box red and not drying, despite being a matte.

#3 - Collection Cream Puff in Fairy Cake (£2.99)
I've seen a lot of hype around these lately and I've loved them for a long time. Fairy Cake is a pretty corally pink. Essentially the Cream Puffs are a lipstick that applies like a lipgloss and dries to a matte finish. The lasting power is great and they smell like cake. I can't think of anything better.

#4 - Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendevouz (£7.99)
Again, another hyped product in the blogging community, but the Revlon Balm Stains deserve the credit. They apply like a balm and do leave a stain on the lips too. These are my go to lip products for day time. I could have chosen the shade Honey too, but I''m enjoying this orangey shade now that the sun has decided to say hello again!

#5 - Elf Matte Lip Colour in Tea Rose (£3.75)
ELF describes these as "jumbo sized lip pencils", though they're basically a mini matte lipstick. The forumula is creamy and non-drying and I love the unique colour of Tea Rose, which is a lilac toned pink.

So those are my 5 favourites, what are yours? :)

Review | The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream

For as long as I can remember, I've been a Body Shop fan. Every day I spritz myself with their Vanilla body spray and I'll frequently slather my legs with one of their notorious body butters and yet their skincare products were something I'd never delved into. Coming to the end of a tube of my trusty favourite from Nivea, I decided to try something new and picked up The Body Shop's Vitamin E Moisture Cream

I was excited to start using it. It had a nice scent and felt smooth, cooling and lovely to apply. However, after 2 days of using this morning and night, a reaction started. I woke up with tiny little bumps all over my face - not spots, just bumps that felt like they were under the surface of my skin and my face felt hot and itchy. I feel it worthwile to point out at this stage that I have a normal skin type, rarely suffering from dryness, oiliness or particular sensitivity. I struggled to believe that it could possibly be my new moisturiser that was causing the problem but stopped using it immediately.

Day 1 of the rash - notice the little bumps?

My panic lead me to the internet and though The Body Shop's website boasts nothing but brilliant reviews, Makeup Alley had a whole different story to tell and I found that there were others who had experienced the exact reaction that I had. At £10 a pot, I can safely say that this is the worst product that I have ever had the displeasure of using.

Day 3 of the rash - bumps still there and my skin was now sore and dry.

I have never written a review this negative before, but I was so angry with the state that it left my skin in. I apologise for my negativity and the unpleasant close-ups of my face, but it was the only way I could show the rash. I have come to the conclusion that it can only have been an ingredient that reacted with my skin, but I am now left completely wary about trying anymore skincare from The Body Shop.

Have you tried the Vitamin E Moisture Cream?
Have you ever had a negative reaction to a particular skincare product?

Review | Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Standout

When I heard that Revlon were coming out with a matte range of their ever so famous Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains I let out what can only be described as a squeal of pure delight. Whilst I wanted to throw them all into my Boots' basket, at £7.99 each I behaved and opted for just one - a deep red that goes by the name of Standout (shade #250).

First off, the pigmentation is brilliant. Despite being a matte finish, it doesn't leave lips feeling dry nor does it cling to the skin. Unlike its predecessor, the matte range isn't designed to be a stain but the lasting power is great nonetheless. I did find application a little tricky, due to the chunky crayon design. Despite that, I love this shade and can't wait to get my hands on some more of the range.

Have you tried any of the new Matte or Lacquer range?
Are you as big a fan of red lipstick as I am?

Review | Firmoo Glasses

After a recent trip to the opticians and the realisation that a new prescription meant new glasses, I was horrified at the prospect of paying at least £50 for a pair I liked. So when Firmoo* contacted me about receiving a pair of their glasses, I jumped at the chance.

Firmoo are an online glasses store, where prices start from $39 (that's about £24!) - much cheaper than the high street. The best thing about Firmoo though is that they offer a program to get your first pair completely free, you only need to pay for shipping. They even have a feature where you can upload a photo of yourself to 'try on' the different pairs of glasses, which is pretty helpful when it comes to choosing the right pair.

The pair I chose are listed on the website as #F03, a lovely full-framed tortoisehell pair of specs. Shipping took about 2 weeks and they arrived fully cased and with a few extra bits and bobs like a soft case, cleaning cloth and a little bag of spare screws. Although my hard case came a little bashed, the glasses were absolutely fine.

I was really surprised by the quality, fit and comfort of the glasses. One thing I will say as that the lenses seem to attract smudges and fingerprints. I don't know why this is, as I've never had this happen with glasses before. Not a deal breaker, but a little annoying. Scratch-resistant coating is an option you can choose for the glasses, though this costs extra, but may be something I'd opt for next time.

Overall I think these glasses are fab. Thank you Firmoo, I'm chuffed!

*These glasses were sent to me for free, but as always I am completely honest in my reviews. If I like or dislike a product, you will find out about it!

Empties | Products I've Used Up #5 (& One I Had To Throw Away!)

Another batch of empty products I've been stashing away to tell you about. Lots I loved, one I hated...
